For more than 20 years, reporter, author and teacher Tom Nugent has gone the extra mile to guide hundreds of young Baltimore writers toward careers in print.

Along the way, Nugent has written scores of short stories - tales like "Not Mean Enough" - cloaked in doubt, pain, yearning, and hope, all set in the Crabtown of his fevered imagination.

Nugent's fiction is largely unsung and unpublished.
